RGC's latest social marketing campaign, Stop the Chase, is unquestionably the hardest hitting campaign ever developed by the Council. The campaign commands attention of the 18 to 24 year-old target group on a very personal level by aggressively challenging perceptions of the value of persevering when it comes to gambling.

Playing the lottery is one of the most popular forms of gambling in Canada and elsewhere. Lottery tickets are much more readily available than other types of gambling— with nearly 30,000 outlets across Canada that sell them (as shown in the Canadian Gambling Digest 2011-2012). And today, seven of ten Canadian provinces offer online lottery ticket sales.

These statements by players on Internet gambling forums were collected as part of the RGC Centre for the Advancement of Best Practices’ study, Monetary Limits Tools for Internet Gamblers, prepared for the Ontario Problem Gambling Research Centre and published this week.

The RGC Centre for the Advancement of Best Practices has recently completed its 4th Insight Project - Insight 2011: Responding to Patrons with Potential Gambling Problems.
Gaming venue staff are often conflicted about what to do when they see patrons who may have problems. Yet these same staff can play a critical role in responding to patrons, often regulars, who they suspect may have gambling problems.

International attendees committed to problem gambling prevention, treatment, research and policy analysis came together in downtown Toronto, April 2 to 4, for the thought-provoking and insightful Discovery 2012 conference.
Once again, the highlight for many attendees was the popular “back room” focus group. This year’s session examined similarities between video gaming and gambling, with insight from the gamers themselves.
