GAME BRAIN “HOUSE OF WISDOMS” CONTEST 2022-23 (the “CONTEST”)
OFFICIAL RULES (the “RULES”)
THIS CONTEST IS OPEN TO ONTARIO RESIDENTS ONLY AND IS GOVERNED BY ONTARIO LAW. NO PURCHASE NECESSARY.
By entering in this Contest, participants agree to be bound by these rules and by the decisions of the Responsible Gambling Council (the “Sponsor”), which are final in all matters relating to the Contest.
This Contest is in no way sponsored, endorsed or administered by, or associated with, Facebook or Instagram. Contest participants (“Participants”) are providing their information to the Sponsor and not to Facebook or Instagram. Facebook and Instagram are therefore released of all responsibility for this Contest for all Participants. The information participants provide will be used to administer this contest only and will not be used for other purposes or shared with any third party.
- CONTEST PERIOD
The Contest will begin on October 11, 2022 at 8:00 am Eastern Time (“ET”) (“Contest Start”) and end on March 28, 2023 at 11:59 pm ET (“Contest Close”; the period commencing on the Contest Start and ending on the Contest Close is referred to as the “Contest Period”).
- ELIGIBILITY
Contest is open to all legal residents of Ontario, Canada who are between the ages of 13 and 18 years at the time of entry. If a Participant has not reached the age of 18, his or her parent or legal guardian agrees to these Contest rules along with and on behalf of his or her minor child. All rights and responsibilities of a minor under the Contest rules are conferred and assumed respectively by the minor’s parent or legal guardian in representation of the minor.
Employees, representatives or agents (and those with whom such persons are domiciled, whether related or not) of the Sponsor, its affiliates, prize suppliers, advertising/promotion agencies and any entity involved in the development, production, implementation, administration, judging or fulfillment of the Contest (collectively, the “Contest Parties”) are not eligible to enter.
- HOW TO ENTER
No purchase is necessary to enter.
To be eligible for the prize described below, participants must 1) play the 3 games (Vortex of Loss, Room 19-9-7-14-19 and Redoubt of Reality) featured in the “House of Wisdoms” digital game and 2) complete an entry form which includes a short survey. Three (3) contest entries maximum may be submitted. The Contest Entry (“Entry”) must be completed during the Contest Period. The Entry Form includes a short survey which must be answered (mandatory questions are indicated) and include an email address for an Entry to be valid. If using an email address, participants must provide a personal e-mail address and may not provide the address to a shared e-mail account. Incomplete or inaccurate entries are void. The Entry may be rejected if, in the sole discretion of the Sponsor, the Contest Entry is not fully completed during the Contest Period. The Sponsor is not responsible for late, lost, misdirected, delayed, incomplete or incompatible Entries (all of which are void).
- PRIZE
There will be four (4), $500 CAD Amazon gift card prizes (the “Prize”) awarded.
- DRAWS
Prize winners (each, a “Winner”) will be determined by a random draw (the “Draw”) from all eligible Entries received on or before the Contest Close. Selected winners will be required to answer a mathematical skill testing question without mechanical or other assistance. Odds of winning will vary depending on the total number of eligible Entries received.
- FULFILLMENT
The potential contest winners will be contacted via email by an RGC representative. The potential contest winner will be required to provide to RGC proof of eligibility, (which may include proof of enrolment at an Ontario high-school by official correspondence from the school). Failure to provide such proof to the satisfaction of the Sponsor in a timely manner may result in disqualification in the sole and absolute discretion of the Sponsor. If a potential winner cannot be contacted, fails to respond to RGC attempts to connect or cannot provide proof of eligibility within fourteen (14) days, the potential winner will forfeit the prize and RGC will conduct a further random draw to select another individual from eligible Entries. A Prize will not be awarded in the event there are no eligible Entries for the initial draw or any subsequent draw.
WITHIN 14 DAYS FROM RECEIVING NOTICE THAT HIS OR HER NAME WAS DRAWN, THE WINNER WILL BE REQUIRED TO SIGN AND DELIVER TO THE SPONSOR A SIGNED AFFIDAVIT OF ELIGIBILITY AND ACCEPTANCE OF THESE RULES AS WELL AS SIGN A DOCUMENT CONFIRMING ACCEPTANCE OF THESE CONTEST RULES AND RELEASING THE CONTEST PARTIES FROM ANY LIABILITY WITH RESPECT TO THE CONTEST AND RECEIPT AND USE OF THE PRIZE. WINNERS WHO ARE YOUNGER THAN 18 YEARS OF AGE MUST HAVE A PARENT OR LEGAL GUARDIAN SIGN AND DELIVER SIMILAR DOCUMENTATION WITHIN THE SAME PERIOD OF TIME.
The Prize must be accepted as awarded. There will be no substitution for prizing made except as provided herein at RGC’s sole discretion.
- GENERAL
All Entries become the property of the Sponsor.
This Contest is subject to all applicable federal, provincial and municipal laws.
ANYONE DETERMINED TO BE IN VIOLATION OF THESE RULES FOR ANY REASON IS SUBJECT TO DISQUALIFICATION IN THE SOLE AND ABSOLUTE DISCRETION OF THE SPONSOR AT ANY TIME.
The Sponsor will not be liable for: (i) any failure of any Website or apps during the Contest; (ii) any technical malfunction or other problems relating to the telephone network or lines, computer on-line systems, servers, access providers, computer equipment or software; (iii) the failure of any Entry to be received, captured or recorded for any reason, including, but not limited to, technical problems or traffic congestion on the internet or at any website; (iv) any injury or damage to an entrant’s or any other person’s computer or other device related to or resulting from participating in the Contest; and/or (v) any combination of the above.
In the event of a dispute regarding the identity of the person who submitted a Contest Entry, will be deemed to have been submitted by the authorized account holder of the email address associated with the correctly completed Entry. An entrant may be required to provide proof (in a form acceptable to the Sponsor – including, without limitation, government issued photo identification) that he/she is the authorized account holder of the email address associated with the Entry in question.
The Sponsor reserves the right, to withdraw or suspend this Contest (or to amend these Rules) in any way, in the event of an error, technical problem, computer virus, bugs, tampering, unauthorized intervention, fraud, technical failure or any cause beyond the reasonable control of the Sponsor that interferes with the proper conduct of this Contest as contemplated by these Rules.
Any attempt to deliberately damage any website or to undermine the legitimate operation of this Contest in any way (as determined by Sponsor in their sole and absolute discretion) may constitute a violation of criminal and civil laws and should such an attempt be made, the Sponsor reserves the right to seek remedies and damages to the fullest extent permitted by law.
Without limiting the generality of the foregoing, the Sponsor reserves the right, in its sole and absolute discretion, to administer an alternate test of skill as it deems appropriate based on the circumstances and/or to comply with applicable law.
By entering this Contest, each participant expressly consents to the Sponsor, its agents and/or representatives, storing, sharing and using the personal information submitted with his/her Contest Entry only for the purpose of administering the Contest and in accordance with Sponsor’s privacy policy (available at www.responsiblegambling.org/privacy-policy), unless the participant otherwise agrees.
The Sponsor reserves the right, in their sole and absolute discretion, and without prior notice, to adjust any of the dates and/or timeframes stipulated in these Rules, to the extent necessary, for purposes of verifying compliance by any Participant or Entry with these Rules, or as a result of any technical or other problems, or in light of any other circumstances which, in the opinion of the Sponsor, in its sole and absolute discretion, affect the proper administration of the Contest as contemplated in these Rules, or for any other reason.
By entering the Contest, Participants are granting permission for their name, city or town of residence, to be used in any promotional material in the event they are chosen as a winner. However, the entrants’ specific address and contact information are kept strictly confidential (entrants can view RGC’s Privacy Policy for more information.)
The Winner’s name will be uploaded, as it becomes available to, https://www.instagram.com/GameBrainCa beginning Monday April 24, 2023 and removed by Monday May 8, 2023.
