The Responsible Gambling Council developed its high school programs to raise awareness of the problems that can occur if gambling gets out of control. Caught in the Game is the third in a series of dramas that has reached over 150,000 students. Due to overwhelmingly positive feedback from students and educators, RGC has made the resource available on DVD.
About the DVD
This 22-minute DVD resource with an interactive debrief option and facilitator's guide poignantly explores some of the non-monetary costs facing a young man and those around him when his gambling gets out of control.
Interactive Review Option
Included in the DVD is an interactive review feature, designed to reinforce the messages in Caught in the Game. After each question, pause the player to engage your participants in discussion.
Facilitator's Guide
While the DVD is central to this resource and is a powerful stand-alone tool, you can amplify its benefits by integrating it into a larger lesson plan. The facilitator's guide provides:
- ways to incorporate this program into curriculum,
- tools to raise awareness about risks of gambling,
- suggested lesson strategies, including information and discussion topics, and
- helpline numbers and websites that may be of further assistance to you and your students.
- More than one-third of high school students have gambled for money in the past year
- 3% to 4% of teenagers who gamble experience gambling problems
- Once teens reach the age of 18, the risk of developing a gambling problem almost doubles
