HOUSE OF CARDS
A Drama about Youth Gambling
Based on the success of the stage dramas Caught in the Game, Three-of-a-Kind and after the beep, RGC presents its newest drama about youth gambling, house of cards. The drama is touring Ontario high schools during the 2006/07 school year.
Like earlier RGC productions, house of cards features young actors and age-relevant language and messaging. This drama poignantly explores some of the non-monetary costs facing a first-year university student, and those around him, as he becomes more and more focused on his next bet. View the playbill.
house of cards incorporates music written by Ontario high school students and submitted as part of the Responsible Gambling Council’s recent songwriting contest. RGC’s annual contests challenge students to communicate with their peers about the risks that can be associated with youth gambling.
Two scholarships were awarded for the best song - $1000 for 1st place and $500 for 2nd place. The first place song was written by Sarah Johnston, a student from Guelph. Chris Chahine from Windsor and Shane MacDonald from Sarnia tied for second place. Click here to listen to an audio clip of each song.
