The Responsible Gambling Council Announces Its New CEO

Jan 16, 2017

I am pleased to announce that the Board of Directors has appointed Shelley White as CEO of the Responsible Gambling Council, effective February 21, 2017.

The Board has selected a strong leader in Shelley White. I am confident that she will make an outstanding contribution to this organization, extending our leadership in problem gambling prevention as well as the identification and adoption of robust gambling safeguards.

Shelley comes to RGC after more than 13 years as President and CEO of United Way of Peel Region, a leading poverty reduction organization operating northwest of Toronto. Her active engagement with diverse stakeholders—from community groups to corporations to government—produced significant results, both in terms of funds raised and services provided in the region. I believe her commitment to engaging with a wide spectrum of stakeholders will serve us well at RGC.

In my conversations with her, I have been impressed by both her authenticity and her strategic mindset.

Shelley’s appointment by the Board was the culmination of an extensive search process that began more than a year ago. I am grateful to the other members of the Executive Search Committee—Larry Moodie, Tim Hurson, Carolyn Marcotte, Frank O’Dea and George Sweny—for their dedication and insights as we worked on the critical task of finding our new CEO.

Shelley has a strong commitment to engaging with the Board and staff in order to achieve a smooth transition. And, thanks in no small part to the leadership of our outgoing CEO, Jon Kelly, we look forward to a highly successful transition.

Please join me in welcoming Shelley to RGC. In the coming months, including at Discovery 2017 in April, you will have the opportunity to meet and get to know her.

Best regards,

Terry Finn, Board Chair
